However, behind these major employers are hundreds of other, perhaps smaller companies, who are currently
hiring for remote jobs and eagerly looking for remote talent to reduce their talent and skills gap many of
which are actually start-ups.
When analyzing industries with the largest share of remote roles available, the tech industry consistently
tops the list. Per a 2023 paper from NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research) study, remote work is more
abundant in roles within the information technology sector, accounting for nearly 35% of total remote jobs as
of 2022 data. Remote.com also noted that the technology sector has the most remote job opportunities, while
recent research led by the World Economic Forum pointed out that second to finance, legal, and accounting
professions, IT roles are popular for remote work.
The tech industry is such a broad field that there are countless careers and opportunities to choose from.
Many of these roles are very lucrative, and it is not uncommon to find yourself making six figures in this
industry after just a couple of years post-graduation.
